Director of Engineering – Finarta USA, LLC
2007-2013
In 2007 I joined a team of diverse and talented individuals to lead the Engineering Department of a new technology-driven fine art trading company, Finarta. The company’s network of art dealers and galleries includes the world’s most prestigious. The software I was in charge of creating provides a secure sharing platform by which exclusive gallery members can selectively share inventory. As Director of Engineering I reported to the company Chief Technology Officer in San Diego, and also worked with the company CEO based in London, and company founder based in Paris.
As Director of Engineering my duties included:
- Creating a secure network by which member galleries could remotely view, sell and exhibit fine art
- Implementing modular design for scaling, security and reliability
- Hiring and managing a team of what grew to seven software engineers
- Designing databases, software and user interfaces with a focus on deadlines
- Producing code documentation, database documentation and API’s
- Performing code reviews and coordinating code reviews among team members
- Testing software and documenting user feedback
- Working under the CTO in San Diego and also with the CEO in London and the Founder/Director in Paris
- Conducting weekly Engineering and IT department meetings
- Producing quarterly department reports
